Tbilisi: Miniature Photography

Surfing the web I stumbled upon at these beautiful pictures of Tbilisi that make the city look like a miniature. Many photographers use a special technique of Tilt Photography that simulates a mock-up effect also called a Miniature Faking. “Miniature faking is a process in which a photograph of a life-size location or object is made to look like a photograph of a miniature scale model. Blurring parts of the photo simulates the shallow depth of field normally encountered in close-up photography, making the scene seem much smaller than it actually is” – Wikipedia

  1. A clever technique! Before digital photography, we used to achieve this by tilts on a plate camera [and you still can with high-end digital backs], but is now more commonly achieved with Photoshop techniques.
